Although I've had more bad than good experiences with purchases from Milestone, they have somehow managed to concoct a winning formula that is a mixture of simulation and arcade. I loathe arcade racers and was very apprehensive about this title, but I'm glad I took a chance. My finger was on the refund button and ready to cancel at the slightest sign of racing ery.What I found was a mixture of old-school rally cars, some Baja racing/Dakar Rally type of elements in the form of trucks/crossovers and heavy-metal music to a lesser degree.The graphics/locations are great the music gets you pumped and, most importantly, this is really fun. ***You can also tweak the vehicles performance to a surprisingly detailed level.. This could have been a good mix of Sega Rally and Shox.runs flawlessly on ultra 60 fps, 40 cars.But in the end the game is bland and boring. It looks like FH3 offroad races, but with less detailed levels.The gameplay? Pretty boring too, like a NFS with TCS and ABS. No grip sensation or physics whatsoever.arcade doesnt mean having a boring handling. Screamer 2, Burnout 3 did it right 15 years ago.For its launch price.it's way too overpricedCould have got better sales with a 25-30 pricetag, which fits more.And god this "festival/beach/electro/loud crowd/gEt rEp PoInTs BrO" cocktail makes me sick.Seen too many of this.. The races themselves work well, and the tracks are exciting and interesting, even when game physics seems rather average. (For example, numerous objects can simply be driven through as though they dont exist.) But who wants average physics in a $50 game?Still, had Gravel been Early Access, Id have considered reconsidering a refund. But it isnt Early Access.Still, even with average physics and full-tilt release, I might not necessarily have refunded such a fun, challenging and interesting career-based racing game. HoweverPlaying offline, I managed to battle all the way to Level 9. Unfortunately, just after succeeding in achieving first place in a particularly challenging (for me) modified figure-eight track, then preparing to begin my next race.my laptop died. Not Gravels fault my laptop came unplugged. However, I DO consider the lack of approaching shutdown notification either from or through the game to be Gravels fault (and certainly its responsibility.)And what else I ABSOLUTELY consider Gravels fault is that even though the power loss was NOT during a game save, it cost me every aspect of my progress. Not only my nine levels, but even my racer character was wiped from existence.So, in summary, had Gravel been cheaper and had better vehicle physics, or been in Early Access, Id almost certainly have kept the game. But it is both illogical and impractical to play a game where, on any given day, regardless of my level of progress, I might have to begin from absolute zero.Hopefully the day will come when I can change both my ownership status and this review.Thank you.(Like most Steam games, Gravel does not record offline game time.). It's real simple. This game is a blast. If you're looking for a casual racing game with variety Gravel should not be overlooked. There's plenty of cars, plenty of tracks and dlc that's continually being released. The game is easily played with a controller with controls that just feel right. Above average A.I. Multiplayer lacks a server browser, making it not much of an option unless you have friends.The Fire and Ice DLC is over priced. However, to be fair the tracks are very well done - with a variety of terrain, conditions and lengthy course options.Fun game. Can't wait for Gravel 2 ( if it happens ).. Very fun racing game. Cars are fun to drive, tracks are well made. Severely lacking in content. $50 for a game you can 100% in 10 - 15hrs is not worth it. For that reason I cannot recommend. Wait for a sale.. i hate racing sims. i hate a game where if you like fun racing you get penalty points etc' so looked at this game a bit ago, and thought it looked cool. tried the demo and thought ok pants demo, but overall not too bad. then got the game and wow, i love this game. reminds me of sega rally, but with other racers. looks lush. deffo worth a buy if you like arcade racing games, say a mix between ridge racer and need for speed fun, without the cops.
